Hanseatic fantasy (7 days/6 nights)

Hamburg is the northern Hanseatic city covered by forest, parks and recreational areas. It is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. It is diverse and surprisingly harmonious at the same time. Wherever you go, whether to the City Hall square or to the Central Station, to the Elbe river or to the city’s largest lake Alster, to the legendary Hamburg port with its piers or to the Fish Market, to Reeperbahn or to the Old Elbe Tunnel 180 meters beneath the surface, every day will bring new surprises at the diversity of this city.

Old Lübeck, former capital of the Hanseatic League, is surprisingly integral with no modern insets. This is a paradise for the admirers of medieval Gothic style. It is in fact located on the island and its territory is only two square kilometres, however every stone, or more precisely every brick here has its own ancient history. The sightseeing includes the Holsten Gate, city hall with a high carved façade, St. Mary’s Church, St. Peter’s Church with observation point overlooking Lübeck’s Old Town and the surrounding area, Burgkloster castle monastery. Boat trip down the Elbe river can be arranged if requested.

The first thing that comes to our mind when thinking about Bremen is the town musicians of course. The images of Donkey, Dog, Cat, and Rooster can be seen everywhere in the city. The most popular statue of those four friends is set in the historic centre – in the market square of Bremen, on the western side of the town hall. The town hall square is surrounded by old streets that are extremely narrow and uneven, but still fascinating, with buildings standing out to the street. This district is called Schnoor. It is a kind of reservation for artists, souvenir stores, craft shops where everything is produced manually, like in old times.

Lüneburg is the city of Hanseatic past. It is rightfully called the architectural gem of northern Germany. The Market Square houses one of the most beautiful city halls in Germany. Here you can stroll down the cobbled streets and admire numerous ancient brick houses that were built long ago by wealthy merchants.
