Eco-tour along the Curonian Spit

Day 1

The program starts with arrival to Kaliningrad. Sightseeing tour in Kaliningrad – the former capital of East Prussia.

Then you move to toylike resort – Svetlogorsk (Rauschen), and to the settlement of Yantarny. This settlement is the only place in the world where the amber had been produced since the days of the Teutonic Knights. Here you will have a unique chance to visit huge open case mine of the Amber Factory and amber-processing facility. You will be able to have quiet time on the seashore after the tour.

Day 2

On the next day you will take a trip along the Curonian Spit in the region. The route goes through a small town Polessk (Labiau) and through the polder soils along the Polessk canal known as “the Netherlands of Kaliningrad”.

This a true kingdom of birds, where the colonies of cormorants and herons can be watched.

You will have a night stay in Sovetsk, former Tilsit, where the worldwide known Tilsit cheese had been created.

Day 3

Further program will take place in Lithuania. You will head for port city of Klaipeda, through the Memel Territory of Lithuania and along the Spit. On your way, you will visit the Bird Observatory on the Ventė Cape, and the old lighthouse. Lunch in the luxury fish restaurant Šturmų švyturys.

Once in Klaipeda, you will take a tour to the city walking down the narrow and cobblestone streets. You will see the world known Theater Square and “Ann from Tharau” sculpture. One night stay in Palanga that is regarded as the main resort of Lithuania.

Day 4

The next day will be devoted to relaxation in Palanga.

Day 5

On the fifth day, you will head for Neringa. This resort spread over all 50 kilometers of the Lithuanian part of the Curonian Spit and comprised 4 resort settlements – Juodkrantė, Preila, Pervalka, and Nida. One night stay in a lovely wooden villa in Nida.

Day 6

On the next day you will have a chance to go cycling or hiking down the settlement of along the sand dunes, learn about life and wok of Thomas Mann.

Day 7

Then you will take a motorboat trip to Minija that is known is “Venice of Lithuania”.

Day 8

The last day of the program will be spend in the Russian part of the Curonian Spit. Here you will see the Dancing Forest, climb up the Height of Eff, observe the banding of birds in Fringilla, the Europe’s oldest bird observatory.
